I have a 2wd 3/4 ton suburban with a 454 and 14bff. The 454 needs to be rebuilt though.

My current truck is rusting away and the frame is shot.

Do you think I should bob the rear and narrow the front and use it to wheel?

I'm not sure if the rear needs to be narrowed though so maybe only the front.

If I decide to do it this will be my build thread.

Yes do it! It will be uber cool! Narrow both ends & lower the roof too, that will help the COG.:D

So you're planning to wheel a 2wd sub?
I thought converting to 4wd was a given :D

Also I won't have to tear apart the current truck till the end to get the tranny and transfer case and all the brackets.

I figured I will start on the body first

I could maybe even just use the current motor in my truck. But a BB would be cool :D

Lol I cant see any of the pics. I'm not a member

Yep, you're definetly right, it is a lot of work. I was going to do just the 4wd conversion, but ended up tons of more work :haha:

Is this the picture Honda used for insperation for thier Ridgeline? :D If so, they fell way short in comparison. I like the look. How stiff are the sides of the "bed"?

I was figuring I would just buy the b52 kit for the front. And use all the brackets for the transfer case of the other truck.

Probably a lot more than that though.

There is a lot of other thing's to deal with. You will have to drill holes for all the front susp. The engine x member will have to be changed too.

I knew the b52 needed holes drilled. But atleast I don't have the bust out any rivets first.

Thankfully the engine is coming out. I think I need a different crossmember anyways to do crossover

i'm not exactly sure which "sides of the bed" you're referring to. it started as a suburban, he chopped off the top. it's hard to see in the pic, but if i recall correctly, he took tube and welded it in for an integral type roll cage. nothing about the truck is flimsy - so i guess the answer to your question is that it is very stiff. the fuel tank was moved to be in the bed and he's got some ammo boxes back there whcih have locks on them for storage. drive train is a 454/465/205/60/14. definitely a sweet rig.

btw, the ridgeline comment is uncalled for. if he read this post, he'd fly out to wherever you live and kick your ass. :wink1: j/k.

I was thinking about just shortening the back and welding the back back on it. I want to make it as factory appearing as possible.
