Just trying to make up my mind on which trailer to haul with. I like the deckover for the width but was wondering about towing the K5 with the extra height? Are there any downsides to it?

I'm looking at a 10k bumper pull and will be using my F250 4x4 as the tow rig. I've never used a car hauler before but have towed trailers / boats etc.

I love the width of the deckover but they are definitly tall. And they get taller as you go up in capacity because you have to fit the rated tires under it. Even my 1500lb. deckover with 13" wheels is like 3' high

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. I'm going to go look at this one next week... maybe. My main concern is how they handle with a K5 on it, other than that it would just be materials for work etc.

I've never hauled a full size on a deck over but I will say i've pulled doubles with my deckover behind my fifth wheel trailer and it handled great. I do stay between 55-65 though. Combined length is like 70'. Haha.

What's that one you posted rated for? Should have at least 3500lb. axles and E rated tires.

It's 10k with the 6 lug axles

So 6,970lb. is what you can load on it. Should be just right for a K5. You just have to watch out for the tires. Most of those places have cheap tires on them. If they don't wanna budge in the price make sure they have name brand, "E" or better load range tires on it. And a matching spare.

i had a moritz 10k equipment trailer years ago that wasnt deck over but it had 8 lug axles and torsion axles . it was 2500lbs empty and built like a tank . had a real 10k jack on it not that tiny thing they call a jack .

trailers these days are so cheep in construction and quality . realy look them over good . crall under them . ask others who have them pros/cons . do your home work . brakes on both axles is best if you ask me .

older version of this one . i loved it but sold it cause i got one 2 short and didnt use it as much then . http://www.moritzinternational.com/equipment-trailers-elh-ar-series.php

more what your looking at . http://www.moritzinternational.com/flatbed-trailers-ud-series.php

Trailersplus makes decent stuff, I almost bought one.... the lower the deck, the better it tows on a bumper pull has been my experience..higher the stuff is the more it catches the wind..its also easier to load with whatever if your gonna use it for other stuff or diff vehicles..lower deck =shorter ramps less angle....the K5 might not care but a sports car will....just look around for 18-20 foot, 7k low deck with drive over fenders.

Deckovers are awesome for when you haul anything and everything. Like the load in the picture. Could that of been loaded on a standard full deck car trailer, yes, but it would been harder to load due to the fenders. So it comes down to how it will get used the most.

The trailer in the pic is a 12k. The day after I hauled that compressor I had to bring a mini excuvator back to the shop. Handled it like a champ.

I cropped the photo to hide the company name on the truck but it's a 2012 duramax chassis.

All our trailers at work are deckovers, even our tiny blue utility trailer, which can't be rated for more than 3500 lbs, but they are just so much easier to load stuff onto. Problem is, they are tall, our biggest is a 40 ft tilt tag rated for 70,000 lbs which pretty much is used exclusively to haul our dozer. It handles the weight of our 48,000 lb dozer fine, but it sure seems like it's really high up, the deck is about 4 1/2 feet off the ground, going over un-level ground is pretty butt clenching, not to mention it puts our total height at over 14 feet.

(Which anit legal)

I don't like deckovers.

Useful as all get out. If you have a variety of equipment to tow. Such as a skid steer, backhoe, etc yes.

For towing cars it puts it up in the wind, fuel milage decrease, takes more power. I've never really noticed more sway with a deckovers but some friends who tow alot have.

Extremely useful to tow anything but if it's mainly for towing a car I would not get one
