well I wanted to find some cheapo lights for the front of my truck. you know like under $15 a light. Cause I dont have the money to spend a $110 on KC's. and plus if i break a cheap light I am not out much money. My Main concern is are they gonna be bright enough for a offroad/driving light?

I was thinking about something like these, $11 a light at the local tracotr supply.

any other suggestions?

Thanks

I've been playing with the Peterson tractor lights... I can get them at work for $9 each so I bought two for kicks, going to mount them behind the grill on my Suburban. Going to mount a couple on the frame on the sides of the vehicle too.

They are definitely cheap but with good wiring they seemed to have better throw then the low beams, or at least a better pattern. Whether or not they'll hold up I don't know, but if they do break it's only $9. Doubt I'll break them on my Suburban... only reason I'm playing with it is because running the forest roads at night is unsettling at times with just the stock lights.

Gimme the weekend and I should have something :D

I highly doubt I will break my lights, its more or less just lack of money. If I get em' I would probaly use 12-14awg wire and a relay.

Alrite let me know whatcha think of them lights when you get em all mounted.

I have a set of Walmart 20 dollar special rectangular driving lights. Very noticeable improvement in light, and they work really well when I get caught in the mud late at night. Plus if I break one, they are cheap to replace.

Harbor Frieght has a pair of lights for 8 bucks i beleive. Complete with wiring and switch! Leper has many of them on his rig and carries extras incase others need lights too. Ill pick me up some soon enough.

i think you need to simply consider the wattage on the lamps you'll use. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

seems to me that if you buy a 60 watt lamp either for $100 or $20, you still are getting 60 watts, but i bet your longevity of the lamp will be less with the cheaper one. i think that 50w is the most you can run legally on the street?

55w Is the legal limit last time i checked. But around here I think you could use a 100w and never get cought.

i have run these on the fronts of alot of my trucks http://www.bulbs.com/eSpec.aspx?ID=10719&Ref=Sealed+Beam&RefId=26&Ref2=Light+Bulbs
plenty bright, fit into the rubber tractor light housings and can be had for about $15 each from a big rig shop, there also called landing lights, super bright and durable

how about these? $25 a light, look awesome, and are bright (100w), they make my high beams look like low beams. i got them from napa along with a heavy-duty relay wiring kit, ($11) that includes all the wiring to hook them up to a switch. i hooked them up to the high beams so they turn on and off with the high beams. for legal issuses, i spliced in a cancel switch in the dash so i can tell any copper that theyre for "off-road only"

Yup, $8.99 a pair and they have glass lenses. I do buy them in bulk. Great for rock lights, and backup lights, and under hood lights, and inside lights, and.............You get the idea. If you submerge them the water will get to the bulb. They are not sealed enough for full underwater operation.. RTV will fix that, but then you can have an issue of too much heat.
I usually carry a spare set or two, incase someone needs them. I don't recall if they come with a relay or not, but relays can be had for a couple bucks, if not.

My friend had a pair of tractor lights sitting in his garage, Sold em' to me for $10. I dont know how bright there gonna be. I am gonna find out tonight.

In my county, all offroad lights have to have covers on them, or ticket. I found out when my buddy got pulled over and the officer said: "this sounds kinda chicken ****, but your off road lights are not covered." glad i was passenger
