Second time through, first time the smog pump failed, replaced that and now here are the readings in ppm

loaded reading - 301
standard - 300

idle reading - 315
standard - 300

Just picked up a new cap and rotor, plugs, plug wires. It probably needed them anyway, think this is enough? Anything else I should look into?

If it visually cant be seen (IE a stock style air filter housing) then pull the air cleaner before you go through. You'll pass with flying colors.

Really? It is stock and can't be seen. Huh...may check that out, thanks

If somethings not malfunctioning and the vehicle is simply running a little rich or tuned to heavy with a carb'd car then throwing in a bottle of that "guaranteed to pass" bull **** and yanking the clear will get you through 9/10 times.

Replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires and air filter

hc readings went from 301 to 15 and 315 to 56

co went from .45 to .20 (loaded) but .67 to 1.11 (idle) :dunno:

either way, i'm legal! truck runs smoother too

Try changing your 02 sensors, my 92 Cadillac failed last year with readings that were 10 times over the limit. Put a new 02 sensor in and she passed with flying colors. Mpg went from 7mpg to 20mpg in a matter of minutes! Seems the air/fuel mix wasn't right.
