First little bump on a rock and its bent! thought $200.00 would have proven itsself.

Well... lets hear the story. There's usually more to it than "just a little bump". :D

When my truck was stock I could wheel and hit everything and drive home with the tie rod somewhat straight enough , and with the truck modified for more clearance I hit everything and bend it real bad every time :confused:

So whats the real story.

Plus bent and and unusable are two different things.

full story with pics please. I need a new tierod so this info may affect my buying decision.

Was wheelin up Johnny park, ( if youve been there you know its not a tough trail) takin the family on an easy trail. Parked the Blazer on a small hill, and thought it best to leave the truck up against a rock to hold her nice n steady while we eat and do a little exploring. Sure enough, theres a nice little bend in my brand new tie rod. I've fallin off rocks, and onto my old tie rod and never bent it. I may have hit that rock a llittle harder than i should have but DAMN! This rod is an 1 1/2" thick steel. Needless to say, I'm a little dissappointed.

It's a tierod not a parking brake.... . I have hit mine on a rock and not bent it. I killed my diff cover, but the tierod held up. You bent it because you parked you truck on it. If you going to be stupid you will damage ****.... don't bitch about how a product will not hold up if your the one that is not usong it for what it is meant for..... :angry1: I hate stupid people...

First thing, you gotta learn to speak to call someone stupid. Second, safety is first priority when wheelin, so without any e-brake the rock was my best option. Allthough I dont recommend it.

If safety is your first concern then why doesn't your e-brake work?

I am gonna have to say that using your tierod as a parking brake is really not a good idea.

Which one did you get? 1 1/2" but what wall thickness?

I have seen the .250 wall and .375 wall push back to the diff cover many times and spring back but I have also seen both get pushed back and stay with a slight bend to it.

I really wouldn't worry about a slight bend, the 2" .250 tubes I use for lower links on my buggy have big bows in them and they still work just fine.

I really think saying that it is a bad product and trying to bash on it is bad form in this instance.

Not sayin its a bad product, just missrepresented in the ORD advertisement. I had some pretty high expectations from the tie rod after talking with the salesman @ ORD. Lets also keep in mind that it is a small bend, but a bend none the less.

I dont see how this is in anyway ORD's fault. The same thing would have happened had you bought the same size tie rod from any company. Also if you were trying to use a rock as a parking brake why not put your tire against it:dunno:?

BTW if you park it in low range it helps make it easier for the tranny to hold it in park or for the engine to hold it in low gear.

I know what you mean.

One time I used a four-sided cheese grater as a drink-holder. The damn drink kept leaking out of all the holes :doah:  !!

x2...

Take some time and resaerch the products you are buying to see what you will need to hold up to the abuse you are going to put it through....

Ive seen plenty of tie rod threads...

tie rods are tie rods. any and all of the different people making tie rods icluding my self use the same .375 wall or .250 wall dom tubing. so in short it would have bent being an ord. product or hwoevers.i have a pile of bent tie rods starting from stock clear thrugh 1 .750 od .500 wall its just the nature of the beast. go to high stear you have no more problems.
