Header gaskets again.....

they are Edelbrock heads 60899, do plan on chasing the bolt holes tomorrow

like i said 2 sets of these from any local parts store and run it . old school guy showed me this trick years ago . i ran it for over 3 years and the headers were cut off collectors and pipes direct welded on a long bed and never blew out . even did a engine swap and reused them no leaks .
I have used those manifold-style gaskets for years on headers with good results. Sure they are smaller then the header tubes, but they don't shroud the heads at all, so why not? Can't blow them without having loose bolts for a while.

Any chance this vehicle has a restriction like a plugged cat or loose muffler baffle?

Took to a mechanic and he said he doubts there is enough material to make em flat, will try in the morning to go to machine shop and ask them

A friend kept having the header gaskets fail on his motor home rapidly,he put on a pair of the solid copper ones with hi-temp RTV on both sides and they have lasted several years--his header flanges were not perfectly flat or level with each other either,so he sawed the flanges so they could flex separately ..

Who's headers are those? how thick is the flange ? The only header I run(Tri-mill) is on my air cooled vw and use annealed copper gaskets with locking exhaust stud nuts. I have reused these gaskets several times.

Remflex. Once you go with those you will never go back.
If you blow them out then you do have a real problem.

hmm 1/4" flange is not the worst 5/16" would better thou. Did you check bolt length yet? inquiring minds want to know ....:pimp:

That's what I told my friend, he blew those out too. Hooker comp's and I think they're warped........

Mr Harden i did run a tap chaser in the threads and the 1,2 and 6 holes had trash in em so you could not tighten the bolts
that could be my problem i will try remflex and see how it goes.

I am going to contact headman and see what they say but i doubt they give a shit

Suppose its only decent advice assuming everything else is the way its Suppose to be.
A band aid doesn't stop the bleeding when you need stitches.

Well the remflex gaskets showed up
I even busted out the torque wrench to tighten the header bolts.

hope this works

How much trouble is it that your ecu settings didn’t save so I started the wizard and it won’t start. I’m on set base timing page
