Header install, whats needed?

you dont use ANY gaskets???
Between the head and stock exhaust manifold - NO gaskets. Just be sure both surfaces are very clean and bolt them together.

Between the head and headers - stock exhaust manifold gaskets. I put the metal side toward the head and never have any problems. They are "drop-in" too, making for easy installation.

You guess what? Could you please be a little more vague?

It may work but I have always heard to use gaskets on stock exhaust or headers.

Quite a while ago when I was in highschool I knew very little about engines and had a local mechanic rebuild the 250 in my '81 C10. He was a machanic at a Chevy dealer and worked out of his own garage for cash. Anyway... I was in his shop talking to him about my engine when I noticed he was putting the exhaust manifolds on a 4.3 he rebuilt for an S10 without using any gaskets. I asked him about it and he said he never uses any gaskets there. I've been doing it ever since with no problems.

thats interesting, i wonder if it can be done with headers too?
I've never tried it, but I don't think it would work very well.
