I need to get some new long tube headers ordered soon. Can you guys help me find a decent set on the cheap side that will fit? Don't really want to bolt my old rusty holy headers to the TBI.

My experience with cheap headers that are painted are that after a week or 2 of driving they'll be rusty and crusty like your old ones. Unless you strip the paint off that it comes with and repaint them, but even then they don't look good for very long.

Im not concerned with the appearance so much but having them seal. The ones I have now are dented from a driveshaft and have holes from rust. I need to be able to weld a bung for the o2 sensor and my current ones are to rotted for that I think.

Oh.
Another thing, atleast with the headers I currently have on my truck, when I bought them the site said they fit my application, but when I put them on I found that right near the collector the hit the shackle. :doah:

if you want a cheap, steel, quality header get Hooker comps...

There should be an uncoated version of Hedman's 69830, but their online catalog is screwed up so I can't figure out what the uncoated ones cost.

The not fitting thing is simply buying headers that haven't already been tested by someone else. Header fitment is a real pain, some manufacturers are better than others at design, that 69830 (and whatever it's derivatives are) will fit.

No idea what the exact replacement would cost, but another uncoated one by Hedman I looked up, was ~$260. You'd have to hit Hedman's tech support up to find out, or someone here may understand their numbering system.

something to be careful with as well is if you have straight or angle plug heads. Many headers wont fit if you have angle plugs.

I bought a set of Heddman cheapos from summit for mine. They fit good, have no clearance issues and don't hang down as low as some I've seen. I can change oil filter and starter with no lost skin or wounds. The ball socket collectors are a plus. I haven't done the flange gaskets since i put them on 6 years ago but do collectors once a year or so. I have a big block so not sure if the small block headers are as good but if so they are worth what they cost.

I am going 3/4 length next time. My shackles and drive shaft rub on mine.

I'm really satisfied with the hooker comp headers. Fit and sealed well, and were only $150 or so.

They've gone up in price since I bought mine, was probably almost 5 years ago now unfortunately. I didn't have any shackle issues, and they fit great from what I remember, I also used them in my nova and they fit awesome in that application too. I'll be getting them for my F150 when the time comes to replace some terrible shorty headers I wasted $200 on.
