Ok guys, bought an 010 4 bolt 350 today, its already .03 over with one sleeved cylinder.... are vortec heads compatible with this motor, i believe it was used 69-75...do i need more info off the block stamping or??

the big picture is to have a 450-500 hp small block for my 86 on pump gas...

To make that much power you're going to need a cam with way more lift than the Vortec heads can handle without modifications. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif They probably won't even flow well enough to support that power range, regardless of cam lift. To make that kind of power you're going to have to step up to the plate and buy some good aftermarket heads. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif 450-500 HP is asking a lot from a 350.

jegs has some relatively inexpensive aluminum heads out, but arent cast heads stronger and less prone to warpage?

Wow...I agree, Vortec's arent going to cut it. AFR's, Brodix or Trick Flows. If your serious about this buildup I would suggest you also post this question on the Team Chevelle board under the "Performance" area.
