heat doesnt work!

i dont know what it is! the blower works and everything, it spits out luke warm air but it never gets hot enough to warm the truck.. i have been over the whole system a thousand times and cant find a thing.

help a cold blazer brother out

something is not opening or closing all the way , you got cold outside air mixing with heater core air . I would look at all the doors , vacuum lines , and cables attached under the dash .

Is your truck heat only , or a/c ? I have one of both from 1983 .

Thats the other thing there too , or the thermostat is stuck open and can't heat exchange .

you probably have plugged lines. if itsnot that. then you heater core is plugged and needs to be replaced, i dont know if you can clean it. my heater on my 67 with a big block works amazing, my engine runs at about 200 degrees and my lines come from my water pump and engine block. you can kinda see them here:

my heater just started working the other day when I cleaned the contacts on my switch in the cab....this is a sort of a hijack but how does the heater in these trucks work? Nothing detailed but just a quick over-view....I'd appreciate it.

i don't know much, but the climate control in my 83 is set up such that when you move a lever, it adjusts the vacuum hoses on the back of the unit. this must open/close the valve which would allow the coolant to flow thru the heater core.

so when the AC is on it allows the coolant to run through the air box and cool off the air that is being blown by via the blower motor...when you put it to heat it just heats the air up from what? The radiant heat off of the engine?

I'm almost positive that the coolant is ALWAYS running through the heater core, at least in our rigs.

On both the 83's I have had here , one a/c . one non a/c , coolant always flows through the heater core , always .

The vacuum and levers on the switches open and close the various doors .

Hmm, so if the coolant is always running through then why isn't it cold?
Or is it just negligible b/c the heat from the engine being brought in when you have the switch on heat?

Because the coolant is gonna be the same temperature everywhere in the system, as in HOT!!!!
