I purchased new exhaust manifolds for my 87 blazer but didn't install the heat shields. Now I am melting spark plug wires right at the boot. The boots do not touch the manifold but the do sit close to it.

Do they make a set of heat resistant wires that can stand up to the heat?

Can I order the heat shields? how much of a pain in the ass are they to install if the manifolds are already on? Where can I get them from?

MSD boots are heat resistant to 1200*
Any of them or a specific model? I see a set of MSD silicon wires for $40 on sleazebay.
If that would fix the problem I would buy them.

I'm thinking what would be best is just to buy the heat shields and struggle to put them back on. I just dont know where to get the heat shields.

Jacobs makes some ceramic spark plug boots. Heat shields, try the dealer.

All of MSD's wire use the 1200* boots. If you want to install the factory heat shields i have a set i'll give you for cost of shipping. I'm now running headers with my new engine and don't need the shields laying around.

Ya that would be cool!! Saves me from having to go to the wrecking yard. Do you have paypal?

Ripped out the old carpet this weekend and installed new carpet. Looks 1000 times better. Now I just have to get the seats redone and the damn thing on a dyno.

Anyone know some good tuners in Portland Oregon with access to a dyno?

Thanks!!
