So I put an o2 sensor in my truck out of a 95 TBI 4.3 s10 like I've read to. I wired one white to pos, one to neg and the black to my purple wire for the o2 sensor. Now the truck is running like its always cold.

What gives I thought this was suppose to make it run like its always hot (properly).

I didnt solder anything, used butt connectors as advised. What did I do wrong?

I have no clue as to what is wrong but I just ordered one of the 3 wire O2's for mine. I would make sure you are getting it to heat up. It sounds like it might not be getting hot.

You didn't use any silicone on it when you installed it did you? If so silicone kills O2 sensors in real short order.

Make sure it is grounded well, I guess. I'm more familiar with the 4-wire heated o2's.

I work with machines for a job and it is not a rare thing to get a new spare part that is not working correctly. Maybe try a new sensor.

Ok I went in and rechecked all my connections since thats the obvious place to start. I think it was just cause I rushed it needing to leave for work. I had a crappy connection (probably on all 3 wires) with the butt connectors. I rewired them and the trucks runs A ok now.

PS: Didnt mean to get snippy before just was very frustrated that the thing that was suppose to fix the problem caused it worse.

What was the problem you were having?

2 things is it Boch? if so its junk there bad outta the box often. secondly you have to solder it the signal to the 02 is very small and any additional wiring or bad connectors can cause trouble.

I ordered a AC Delco one. I couldn't find any locally and was not going to pay the stealership price.
