Anybody know where I can get a replacement (or how to fix) the plastic clip that moves the heater flap in the heater box? Winter is coming and not having a defroster is not a happy situation. :(
I've checked LMC, classicparts, and gmpartsdirect with no luck. I'm hoping to avoid the junkyard thing because they're all quite a drive for me.

I just went through this exact same thing and actually found a decent way to fix it. I went to the auto parts store and bought a pack of door hardware that had a connector that worked extremely well. It basically accepts that control rod like that original clip and plugs into that hole where the original went. Works awesome. I'll try and get a pic of what I am talking about in a few.

Here's a pic of the piece I am talking about. Hope it helps.

Might not be the same piece you are talking about, but I hope it is.

It might, but I'm not a member so I can't see that pic. But, if there is an alternative (hopefully metal and not plastic) that I could use in place of that it would be great. Actually, one of my options was to take the piece to the local hardware store and try to fabricate something.

Has anyone else had this piece break? It seems so flimsy a thing to be a rare breakage.

My bad, here is a link to the pic:

I know what your talking about, when I replaced my heater core I found mine was broken. I couldnt find an aftermarket supplier so I went to the junkyard. Out of probably 10 trucks I looked in, only found 1 good one, so your best bet will be to make one, especially if you dont have a close junkyard.

Get me a picture of what you need... I've been somewhat careful while removing stuff so far but like I said get me a pic of what you need and I'll be sure to pull it out carefully...

Just host it on photobucket or e-mail it to me...

EDIT: So you need the linkage that moves this door?

Ok I'll pull it out for ya' when I finish tearing out the HVAC stuff this week... I'm going to try and get it done Monday after work but if not it'll be next week because I'm leaving for Nashville Wednesday morning and won't be back until Sunday...
