So I got the heater core in but I'm not getting any power to the vents from the controller tried replacing fuses any ideas also even if the heater isn't blowing should I unbipass the heater hoses?

Guessing from your name its an 83. Does the fan come on? If you have no power at all to the controller, then its probably a loose wire or fuse you missed.
If the controller is powered up, but the fan does not run, it may be the resistor pack is unplugged, but it should run in high.

If its powered up, the fan runs, but no air comes out, then you have a jammed air door or a vacuum line off.

Bypassing the water to the heater core has no effect on air flow.

If no power, make sure you check the little ground wire from fan motor to a good ground source.

:waytogo: That was my problem. And silly me, I checked everything else before looking at the simple stuff that time. :doah: I've come to the conclusion on these trucks 9 times out of 10 its something simple.
