Re: My sliders, TONS of pics

That looks really nice. The workmanship is great too. My only question is about wieght. D-plate isn't light. I saw you used 1/8", but that still adds up. How much wieght do you think you added?

I was just going to ask the same question...

/forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
AHHH, I would GUESS, I have cut off or cut out 400+lbs worth of rusty floors, rockers and fenders. Each sheet of diamond plate is about 200lbs (?maybe)... I bought three sheets and I think I have more than 3/4 of a sheet in leftovers, plus the tube and angle /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif I would guess I have put about 600lbs back in /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
minus the interior, tailgate and top I should break even. I took a 7.5" snow plow and mount off the front and the rear bumper, I would guess the total 1000lbs off (including the plow) and I'll put that much back in by the time the floors and bumpers are done.... the blazer shouldn't be TOP heavy though /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif All the weight is in the middle.

The front bumper is going to have a skid plate made from the leftover diamond plate, the doors and the area around the taillights thats kind of rusty and loose will get reskinned with some thinner (maybe aluminum) diamond tread.

rustyflooredge1.jpg

Still need to weld in a thin piece of angle for the weather stripping to clip back on /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

rustyflooredgeunder.jpg
Underside, I might do a couple tack welds but the top side is complete seam welded.
rustyhumpwelded.jpg
seam sealed /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I ran out of wire and argon so I will have to finish the passengers side tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Nope I welded the brackets on too low, plus I dont have a truck tailgate to mount to know where I want it yet... I still need to bob the rear frame rails also

Body lift goes on end of this week and hopefully the gas tank will go back in this weekend /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Seat bases and lift coming soon

why do you have to bob the frame rails?? so the bumper can sit closer to the body?

btw you project is coming out very clean.....

Re: My sliders, TONS of pics

lOOKS SWEET....I know why you used 1/8" plate steel /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif It will take that much longer to rust through the next time /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

If nothing else, you can fab floors for a living /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif Can you get the time it takes to do down to 1 night???? /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Plus since I'm not using stamped or ribber metal the 1/8" is to help keep things STIFF, it takes alot to bend it and it is supporting most of the body weight at the edges (with the way I cut out the rust anyways).
