Hedman 69230 vs. hooker 2453HRK

Could you take a picture of the fit around the motor mount and what you cut. And is anyone running the 2 1/4" Hooker Dual exhaust system i have a 350/700R4, and I plan on running that with a set of Flowmaster 44's.

Sorry, I can't take a picture because I removed the small block and swapped in a big block. I did buy Hooker headers again if it means anything. I will say it was pretty minor in a useless area of the motor mount. Took 2 minutes with the sawzall with the mount in the vehicle. Drivers side, upper rear corner of the metal mount that bolts to the block. It might not be necessary with all mounts. The tolerances seem pretty sloppy on the outside of the mounts.

Also, I am currently running the hooker dual 2 1/4" exhaust. I had it with the small block and modified it with the big block. I think it is a great deal. Fits fine and bolts in with the hooker headers. I think you'll be happy with it. And you can rotate the intermediate pipes around a tiny bit before you clamp them to be sure and clear all your drivetrain and stuff. Rear side exit, and I was able to tuck it up under the quarter panel pretty close to it never get's hit when wheelin'.

With that said, I will probably convert to bigger tubes with my big block eventually.

i know their not trucks but ive installed both brands, the headmans in a 67 SB camaro and hookers in a 71 BB chevelle. both i had to tweak a little to get them to fit but the hookers in the chevelle i had to get down right nasty with. but you have a lot more room in a truck than you do a car, obviously

One more option - I run Thorleys and they fit perfect, seal good, sound good, and are made to last.

Im running dynomax headers that came off a 74 2wd chevy on my 86 k10, they don't hit the shackle and seal really good after i cut the flange between the outer tubes.

Here is a pic of what i did to my headers:

One side is still running the original motor gasket that was put on around 5 years ago and i replaced the other alittle over 2 years ago.

Ive used Hookers on both my nova, and the K10. I have only had very very minor motormount clamshell grinding on the truck, other than that they fit great, the shackle is somwhat close, but not enough that it would ever be a problem.

Unless I drop the cash for some really sweet stainless headers for the next project I will buy hookers again.

how good are mid-length headers, like the ones pictured below? You definitly will not have a problem with them hitting the sprring shackles.

They showed up today and appear to be quality units. I'll take pics when I install them in the beginning of next week.
I have to finish timing the engine and hook up the TV cable then take it to a shop to have them adjust it.
Once it's running I'll bring it home and start on exhaust stuff.

Those are still shorties.

Also, Avery, I don't think you'll be dissapointed with the hookers. Headers always have a possibility of interfering, but I think you've got the best chance with the hookers. Many other companies don't even differentiate between 2 and 4 wheel drive.
