Just kidding, Hi and welcome to the best damn Chevy 4x4 site on the planet...
So many variables to your question...spend some time here in The Garage forum, use the search feature as needed, and you will find more info on these trucks than you thought humanly possible!
It really depends on tire size for the most part and what kind of rpms you want to be turning at highway speeds, unless its just an off road kinda rig and you dont care about that.
From reading here it sounds like the best ratios are 30"-33" 3.73s or 4.10s for more torque, 35"- 4.56, etc.... I have 32" tires and 3,73s and I want to go 33" and 4.10s and I feel it will be just right.
Definitely need more info on your rig before any recommendations. Is it gas or diesel? Tire size? General use?(daily driver, trail, mud, rock crawling, ect.)
if you are 35 inch tires or under id go 4.10 gears.if you plan on anything bigger than that figure the gearing from there.going form 2.73 to 4.10 will be like adding 200 horsepower to your rig.
Yes^^^^
Check out CUCV's
A 14 bolt with 3.73 or 4.11's is EZ for a couple hundy, cheaper that swapping gears in a 12 bolt!
Even if the donor has a matching D44 front (still way cheap) instead of the D60, you will be way ahead.
The swap is a no brainer, you just need 8-lug wheels, and check the u-joint sizes
