Hello guys and gals. New to site, I am here from south Texas,* RGV.* And this is my baby!*

It is a '87 GMC JIMMY 4X4. it used to belong to my father-in-law before he passed away.* And now my mother-in-law just gave it to me after 7 year of being parked.

Welcome!

I hate to be the one to say it, but that truck needs a new truck. :(

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, the roof and doors are both toast. You'd need a complete donor K5 to fix that, basically.

Can be done, will take a lot of work, you plan on resurrecting it?? or making something else out of it?

Welcome dude. You can get alot of good advice and knowledge here. Not from me of course  but plenty here with common sense and experience

Welcome! I hate that it sat for so long. A lot of that rot could have been prevented. Definitely worth keeping and wrenching on, but probably as a wheeler. No worries though. I've seen the brotherhood convince a guy to start with a tail light lens and build a full rock crawler. You've come to the right place. (Unless you're looking to keep all of your money...in that case run)

Welcome!

If it were me, I'd grind out the rust as much as possible, slap some fiberglass in it and throw a coat of paint on it, and wheel the crap out of it.

That thing will give you miles of smiles.

welcome fellow K5'er you find that this is the best sight to get information and help from a lot of people with great knowledge in different things
im sure with some help form these other guys you will have it on the road again soon

That is exactly what I was thinking about doing.

Disreguard the "you need a new truck" comments. A few hours and some work can turn a rotted turd into a pretty good looking rig.

I may have some experiance with the "rot"

Post lots of pics, ask lots of questions, and we will help you through the whole way :waytogo:

Thanks. It has plenty of rot. And I'll take plenty of pictures. This is my diamond in the rough!

We did this to mine on saturday... You are going to be just fine :D

Dyna glass and a sandblaster is your friend. Or a wire wheel.

Ive got plenty more rust repair pics if you are feeling scared.....

Nagh, I've done body work before. Went to school for it and everything. Rust doesn't scare me.
