I'm looking for advice on how get my hood down even with fenders at windshield side on my 76. I have put new hinges and springs on and made it worse than when I got it, I have adjusted the hinges on fender every way I can without any good result. I did remove springs from hinges then closed and hood did sit flat with fenders leading me to believe the springs are holding up. I currently have the old springs back on but still sticks up from spring pressure. Should I bore out hole on hinges to get more adjustment? Anybody have this problem? Thanks for any ideas

Do you have pictures of the springs with the hood open?
I try to get some pics tomorrow evening.
I was thinking about using a lighter spring but not sure if that’s a good idea with the weight of the hood and I do not want to kink the hood when opening. Thanks

I just want to make sure they weren’t inverted or upside down when you installed them.

I believe I have them installed correctly but I did not know they could be installed upside down or inverted. I’ll post some pics before I pull the springs again.
I have heard of this problem before and most posts say wore out hinges (installed new fully lubed) Thanks again

I really don’t know if they can either. Haha! After thinking back on mine, I don’t think you can.

Adjust the back part of the hinge all the way down and tight just the rear bolt, with the rear bolt tight raise the front part of the hinge and tighten the front bolt. Raising the front part of the hinge will cause the hood to sit lower when shut. If raising the front of the hinge doesn't cure your problem then you will need to remove the hinge and ream the hole in the rear of the hinge so you can lower it more. Good luck

I’ll give this a try and let you guys know how it turns out
Thanks for the reply

Big block 72 has the right answer. They came off while properly adjusted which means they can be adjusted properly.
