Help! I can't accelerate!

Hey guys,
Haven't had time to work on it yet, schedule has been insane right now. One thing I did find out is that I'm getting about 4.5 MPG right now, so I feel like fuel flow isn't my issue.

It's probly getting crappy mpg because its still not running right. Wasting fuel out the exhaust instead of burning in the cylinders. I had a friend suggest o2 sensor on mine having similar issues. Mine clears up when the engine warms up and stalls out any more than 1/4 throttle til it warms up. I've never changed it and I've had my truck 2 years so who knows how old it is.

^^ if the cats are bad it will smell like rotten eggs
I've seen a charcoal canister come apart inside and feed carbon through the engine until the cat was plugged solid. The cat technically didn't really fail and didn't smell of sulfur.

I've also seen a something break loose inside a muffler and end up against the outlet - that vehicle couldn't get over 25MPH.

A vacuum gauge can diagnose a plugged exhaust. The engine will start with normal vacuum and it will drop as the engine runs, either getting close to zero (stalling the engine) or just never developing as much vacuum as it would with open exhasut. I think shops check this by putting a test fitting on the exhaust pipe and measuring the pressure.

I had the same problem and it wound up being my fuel pump it was pushing fuel but not enough to supply the load when I was accelerating for a stop.

Ok so i had the same problem as i said before in earlier post, and i had three mechanics work on my truck trying to solve the problem. everyone of them thought it was fuel but it was the timin. when they checked it with a timing light they all foegot to disconect the wire. so it turned out to be just 20 degrees out of tune. before you laugh at me for not checking my own timing, I am handicapped thx to a boat accident.
