Im trying to get my cap off on the left side and i cant get it off because the steering arm is connected, i tried taking both nuts off on the steering arm but that wouldnt budge either! how do i get it off? thanks

When you say kingpin cap this means you have a D60 and the driverside will be the arm that is cast with the cap as one and is held on with 4 bolts not 2.

yeah, i was taking the bolts out, 2 whole bolts came out because the nuts got stuck and it took out the entire bolt, the other 2 bolts are in with the nuts off. The bolts that are in are the 2 ones toward the front. Cant get it off

Take the 2 nuts that did come off and use them to remove the 2 remaining studs that are stuck in the knuckle. Once all four studs are out, it should come off w/ a hammer.

The arm should come off easily with a few taps on the arm. There is spring tension on the arm from the kingpin spring so be careful, i would thread the 2 nuts on a couple threads and then tap on the arm from the top and then the bottom.

ill go try but i dont know whats gonna keep the nuts from coming off themselves just like they did before, ive been pounding on the arm with a rubber mallet and no go

Go beat on it with a steel sledge hammer instead, a rubber mallet in this case isn't going to do much good.

I was saying that if you jam the 2 nuts together on one stud, you have created a bolt head on that stud, then back it out that way. Even w/ those 2 studs there, you should be able to get the arm off, like 4x4high said, its spring loaded and will all of a sudden just pop up unexpectedly.

are you trying to replace the plastic bushing and spring to fix a dw problem?

Got them off guys thanks. Man the passenger side was a cakewalk compared to the drivers side. Yeah, this was for a DW issue, i took it out for a test drive and she didnt wobble once, except when i hit a speed hump at 45-50mph, then it did the shakes but not as bad
