Ok the Duratracs seem to be the tire of choice, but what about the rims? Keep the factory ones or get aftermarket?

Oh the irony of life... I just posted in here about my sister's tahoe and how much I liked the Duratracs on it.
She rolled in the driveway tonight while I was out working on the truck with a huge slash through the center of the tread and an empty tire. Amazingly the beads stayed seated with no pressure in the tire so she didn't bend the rim but just found it funny.

Chevy305, Know what i would do if i was us? Switch to a differnt stock wheel.
The duratracs are only 2 ply and people reported more flats as a result. But I think I'll be fine for what I'll use them for.
I looked into getting some nnbs Tahoe wheels but they are EXPENSIVE. I'd save money buying aftermarket wheels.

I was thinking this style.
I had reaaaally bad luck with the Pro-comps I would advise you to stay away from them. sidewall failure and tread separation and soft as hell ,very squirmy
Not as aggresive a tread pattern, but I put BFG Rough Terrain on my wife's 2x4 Tahoe and have been really impressed.
tires ive had real good runs with are the mastercraft at2's, do great in the snow/ice and have a 50k warranty.
I would agree my buddy has a set on his ranch truck, 93 cummins and they do decent in the mud and snow and even ok in the sand. Couldnt really say as to highway it never leaves the dirt.

I voted for the Black Rock wheels as they have a pretty forgiving look. And by that I mean, if you ever go to sell them, are open to more buyers. On top of that they look pretty bad ass on the new Tahoe.
The GY Duratracs have a real aggressive tread pattern for an A/T and are well siped for packed snow and icy roads. Plus they are widely available around here if you ever need one replaced.

496 is right, but the more i think about it, i think tye ultras would look clean as hell on your truck!
I'm thinking I might stick with the factory wheels for now and if I want to add wheels later I can always do that.
About the duratracs, I was sold on them until I came across the Cooper ST Maxx. I've been reading that the duratrac side walls are weak and might not be the best for a fullsize suv that I plan to tow with. Cooper manufactures Mickey Thompson which I have on my K10 and they are finaminal high quality tires. The carcass on the ST Maxx is the same they use on the STT and the MTZ so I know it'll be tough and durable. The reviews I've been reading on them are pretty stellar. What do you guys think?
