help me plan my build: 1987 suburban

yeah its loose where it tilts. the actual column is fine. real sturdy. i just had a hard time trying to pull the steering wheel so gave up. that was a while ago. any tips on how to get that thing off?

I'm guessing you mean the lock collar after the actual wheel is off. It wasn't too hard for me to use both hand to push down the lock collar and use a pick to pry the C clip off. It was a little harder putting it back on when all was done. But, they make a tool that supposedly makes it pretty easy.

know what, to hell with it. i'm just gonna buy a new column. i found one locally for like 30 bucks. if that doesnt work out, ill come talk to you dude

only problem is im pretty much stuck inside for a long time because i have a really really nasty ear infection.

the painkillers make it fun though.

well since i've already got the d60, i think i might call that guy about the 10 inch lift. eventually i'll be doing the 52'' spring swap but its a pretty good price

okay so i called a local business. central coast 4x4 and he said that he will sell me the hubs and rotors for my dana 60 for $400 for both. does this sound like a good price? apparently they are brand new too.

PROGRESS!!!! i just bought pretty much brand new 8'' front leaf springs for $250 and me, my dad, my neighbor, and my buddy helped me get the dana 60 out of the back of my tow rig. its now sitting right behind my truck waiting to go in. so here's what im gona do:

put dana 60 in like it is.
see if rotors will need to be changed
change hubs (and rotors if necessary)
buy longer break lines and shocks
stick my tires on there and install 8'' lift springs
crossover from WFO

and then finally a shackle flip in the rear to make me level with the front.

do you guys think ill need longer driveshafts for this?

yeah i guess that was a stupid question. i think im gonna have to do some exhaust work too because the front driveshaft almost hits the exhaust as it is right now. hmm.

at least i can get a discount on driveshafts because im in the chevy militia.
