Hello let me get one thing out of the way ive searched untill i have so much conflicting info on this subject i have no clue what tire to get!!

Anyway i would like some oppinions from real world use i plan to daily drive my 85 k5 i just bought it came with 38.5 x 14.5 x 15 thornbirds on it :haha:

These have got to go lol.

Any way ive been leaning towards the Truxs mt tire in a 38.5 14.5 setup http://www.intercotire.com/site35.php

or the ssr in a 38 x 15.5 setup http://www.intercotire.com/site35.php

Been hearing mixed reviews on procomps but people seem to like the streetability of this brand.

im not listing wheel sizes as i will be buying new wheels to match whatever tires i get.

The most important thing to me is a tire that wears well and doesnt scare the #$%#$ out of me on the highway.

I dont plan on serious rock crawling just trails some mud ect but mostly concerned about Daily Driveability.

So if anyone has a 38" tire they have first hand experience daily driving please let me know .. wear off road capability, snow ice , what they are like at highway speeds, how many miles u got out of em ect, ect,

Im probably doing about 15% highway 85% round town driving.

Thanks in advance!

i know alot of guys running 35-37" toyo m/ts. I will be ordering my 38/14.5/16s in june. one of my buddies got 50,000 out of his 37s on a lifter cummins crewcab and they still had tread, Have heard nothing but good about them and they are pretty quite on the road too

toyo mt,s i had on my 07 unlimited wrangler where perfect. best riding big tire i have ever had and now my new 08 blazer project will run 40" toyos for the street and 42" iroks out to play. i have had alot and really the toyos and they really go alot of miles..

either 37" or 40" MTR's for 17" rim or the Military michelins which are 38x11 for 16" rim.

i was VERY impressed with my goodyear MTs in 37x12.50x16.5s. I ran them for 6 or so months, very little noticeable tread wear and rode good till 100 mph with no balance.

cooper stt's. I had 38 mt's but sold em. They were a very nice tire but pricey. The cooper stt's have a very similar pattern to the toyos and have a nice aggressive looking side wall. They are also about 50 bucks cheaper a tire.

hey thanks for the replies but i noticed no one mentioned the intercos should i stay away from em?

after some web surfing these toyos have amazing reviews this might be the right tire!

I had the trxus mts in the 35" version. I really liked them, they were a very good street tire and I was impressed with the offroad capabilities

Price range?

I know several people that have liked the SSR for a road warrior. However I don't know if they were doing as much street driving as it sounds like you will.

For Colorado wheeling and lots of street driving my first vote would be Goodyear MT/R's. Problem is they don't do 38's. I liked my 37's for the dual purpose use I put them through and I know several other guys that have great experience with MTRs. B_to_C got over 35,000mi with his 35" MTR's.

If the price isn't a problem, I'd say you oughta try the new BFG KM2 mud-terrain tires. I don't know anyone that's running them, however.

price doesnt really matter too much i found 318 a tire for 38 14.5 16 toyo and 399 for 38 15.5 18 ( i love the fat wide tire look) seems reasonable to me ill have a look at these goodyears ... why do you say 37"?? this blazer has 8" of lift with some fender trimming with flares the 38' look like they belong on this truck however i guess 37 wouldnt make much of a difference really ... so why 37 over 38 im curious now :p

The Goodyear MTR's come in 37 or 40 inch, no 38. I tell ya, I've been seeing a lot of trucks with the 38 inch Toyos lately, I've never had any but, they seem like they'd be a pretty good tire for your use. I've got 37" Cooper STT muds on my project, I have yet to run down the road with 'em though (build in progress). IDK though, 37's might look a bit on the small side on yours as much lift as you've got. 38's with some width to them might just be the hot ticket for yours!

i destroyed my interco SSR's, and am getting Michelin XZL's (11.00r16) aka 38.5x11r16
these tires, along with the Xl's, are supposed to get am amazing number of miles out of them before they wear out, along the lines of 50k, but they are HARD to find

good luck

if price is not a problem they would be easier to find
try here

I'm surprised nobody has asked... what axles do you have? How are they geared? What's your steering situaiton (crossover yet?)...

Coming from someone who originally bought a rig on 38's that definately wasn't setup to run 38's there might be more to getting the quarks worked out besides swapping tires...

On a side note with gas prices going nowhere but up you might want to look into two sets of tires (again all this depends on how you're geared) but maybe some 35" BFG AT's for daily driving duties and then some aggressive 38's for off-road...

Dana 70 1 tons full spring lift, gears i wont know yet till i get all the recipts feels very tall the suspension was done right far as i can tell pretty much the main reason i bought it .. 1 tons good quality lift done right full disc brake conversion front and back. Ill basically be driving my 4 runner around till i get this thing done the way i want it then ill sell off the runner and drive this beast around ... (tune port injection is top of my list after the tire situation)

oh and dont shoot me but i dont ever have to pay for gas :eek1:

This is what I run:

I have 37x13.5x15's, but they have 38's as well. They are quiet and have good road manners, and they are supposed to wear well.
