Hey all, I'm looking for some clarity on how to put an e locker in a GM 10 bolt with 28 spline axles. It looks as though all the manufacturers make an e Locker unit for the 30 spline axle diffs, but not the 28. Only thing I can find is ARB for the 28 spline. Is it possible to put a 30 spline e Locker in, and throw in 30 spline axles? Is it that simple? Any machining required in wheel bearings or special bearings? Thank you!

the only difference I am aware of, is the carrier bearings hubs are a larger diameter. You can stick a 30 spline in a 10 bolt originally equipped with 28 splines by using the correct carrier bearings, and matching spline axles.

As said above if you buy the 30-spline carrier/locker assembly, the correct application carrier bearings, and 30-spline shafts and put it all in. For the axle shafts if a rear axle you can get aftermarket alloy's for $100 - $150 per side. If a front axle you can get 30-spline inners for about $175 per side. The u-joints and stubs are the same so you could re-use the existing ones. Factory 30-spline shafts for a front 10-bolt or a rear 10-bolt of the square body width are pretty rare in the junkyard since they only came in some '88s and in the '89-'91 K5 and Suburban. The '88 and newer 1/2 ton pickups used a wider rear 10-bolt that has longer 30 spline shafts.

The Eaton e locker requires a certain size carrier bearing, so those are gone be a given. Like It’s been stated, you’re down to finding 30 spline axles.
Are thinking about the e locker for the front or rear?
