help on hookinh up tach on HEI

Can someone tell me where the green wire from the tach goes on a HEI distributer, Or just tell me where to hook up all the wires.

I assume your 'green wire' that you refer to is the 'tach' signal wire for the coil...........right? If so, there is a plug/connection on the HEI that says 'TACH' on the little ear that sticks out for this hookup.

yes, on the side of the distributor cap, where the wires plug in from the distributor base and wiring harness, there is an empty terminal marked tach on the cap. hook the tach signal wire to that terminal

A .250 Female spade will plug onto this "Tach" connection. Just crimp one onto the end of your wire and press it on. A small mirror might be helpful on the first try.

Soory to change the topic a little bit, but what all is involved in the install? I imagine the tach would have a power wire and a sender wire......Where do you hook the power up to?

Where have you guys installed your tachs other than the dash?

Red is 12 V keyed hot
White is power from the instrument lights so the tach will dim with the panel
Black is ground
Green is Tach signal from the distributor
