I'm in the process of replacing my front calipers, pads, and rotors and have run into a snag getting the rotors off.

I'm fairly sure I have to pull my hubs apart to get the rotors off, but I cant figure out how to get these Warn hubs out.

This is where I'm at now, any help?

They have to come out pretty straight. Did you remove the snap rings? There is one on the shaft and one in a grove in the hub (the actual wheel hub, not the lockout components).

After the snap rings are removed, I usually thread two of the lockout bolts into the lockout 180 degrees apart and pull it out.

The snap rings are located where I have indicated in red

Us non-members cant see those pictures.

I found the first larger snap ring, and have gotten the locking part of the hub removed. Do I need to continue removing the actual hub pieces behind it in order to get the rotor off?

Yes, you need to gain access to the spindle nuts and lock washers to pull the wheel hubs off.

The smaller snap ring may not be there, it's common for people to leave them out. You will need to remove the lock nut, the little lock washer, then the next nut. Then slide the hub/rotor off. The wheel studs hold the rotor onto the hub.

Why are you replacing the rotors anyway? Unless they are completely shot, or badly warped, I always leave mine alone.

Front rotors have a bunch of chunks missing out of them, looks like someone had been beating the back of the rotors with a hammer to try and get them off.

Ok, got a spindle nut socket, it fits..but it seems to just keep turning and turning without doing anything. I can feel and see whatever the spindle nut socket locks into inside the hub being turned, but nothing appears to be loosening off.

1.Verify BOTH snap rings are out.
2. Double check step 1.
3. if you dont have 2 snap rings lying next to you, 1 the size of the hub, the other the size of the spindle, repeat step 1.
4. Insert hub socket into hub, feeling with your hands untill it grabs the spindle nut, and turn counter clockwise.
5. remove the washer (I forget what its called) behind the first nut and repeat step
4.
6. wiggle the rotor off. Without beating it! Since thats why your doing what your doing.

You sure you have a gm dana 44 hub socket? assuming thats what your working on.

I've just got 10 bolts.

One more nut.....wiggle rotor off. Whatch for the inner and outer bearings falling.

Do you have a torque wrench for re-install?

So I just unscrew those two notched nuts? As I said before, the rear one is spinning but nothing seems to be coming loose.

It should unscrew exactly like the first. The two notched nuts are your spindle nuts.

Ah, ok theres my problem. I dont have a spindle nut socket for the outer nut so I've just been spinning away at the inner nut.

Looks like you may have one tab on the tabbed washer still bent up against the outer nut. You will probably need to bend it to get the socket on the spindle nut.
