edit i found part of the problem something is back feeding my turn signal circuit if i pull my turn fuse everything works including my signals so i have a short in something on that circuit but i don't have a complete wiring diagram so does anyone know what is on that circuit and if there is any relays or anything that could be shorted causing it to back feed

i am having all kinds of problems with my nv4500 swap i changed my my pedal group and when i was pulling my steering colum i made a few sparks i didnt remove battery cable and now i got everything put back together my service engine soon light stays on with key off

i lowered colum back down checked for pinched wires and unplugged all connections from column and it still stays on

if i remove ecm fuse it goes out also if i jump the a and b terminals like i am getting trouble codes the light flashes like it should but with the key off or on its like the computer isn't turning off but everything else does

i tried a spare computer and no luck i haven't found any pinched wires i found a couple bare wires from someone splicing into them and fixed that

has anyone ever heard of this i am lost and realy could use some help thanks

do you need the computer or engine light? Meaning, what year is this and do you have to smog it?

is a 89 and yea i like the tbi and it has to pass the visual no smog yet and it drains my battery if i don't unhook it

i went out and messed with it today i started it and the light went out while running but when i turned the key off everything turned off gauges, radio, everything like it should except the engine i had to shut the fuel pump off to kill it i am totaly lost

that is a crazy problem
coil and computer might still be running, maybe you killed what normally turns them off
I'm surprised the fuel pump was still going even after the key was off, it should be a keyed hot.

yea its crazy i can unhook everything from steering colum and it stays running and a few months ago my fuel pump started staying on with key off i can even pull my fuel pump relay and the pump still runs so i just installed a toggle switch to cut power now it started this and i don't know if its something i did or if it was just my luck it started while i was swapping everything out

i worked on it all day and still no luck has anyone ever heard of anything like this i pulled my pedals back out to check all the wires and i stripped all the tape off of all the wires around where i was working on stuff cause i thought i might have pinched something but i can not find anything

There is another thread going in the garage with a guy having the same issues, he hasn't responded to his thread in a few days, but last I knew he hadn't gotten it fixed yet... Klowninc89 is his user name and he has 2 threads for the same problem, the newest is "I still need help....". I think he had been messing with his steering column as well if I remember correctly...

yea sounds like a very similar problem i worked on mine some more today and i dont think my gauges are turning off but my radio is turning off and i don't think my key switch or anything in the steering column is the problem because i can unhook all the wires and the computer still stays on so i am lost

i thought it might be a sensor back feeding so i unhooked every sensor on the engine including my injectors and fuel pump relay i think it might have something to do with my ecm b fuse cause if i pull it out the light goes off but if i pull the other one it don't but the gauges stay on still so i don't know i really need help
