Help! Truck won’t start! Gas 350

Ok, so here are the photos.

Two separate wires leave the battery terminal. Two are grouped together and pass through a black cylindrical bead (ferrite?) together, then separate. A single one passes through the other black bead.

All three go into the wire loom shield thing.

At the alternator, a black wire emerges from the wire loom along with a red one, which become a connector (?) on the alternator.

I think the other two red wires continue into the wire loom toward the starter.

So what am I looking at and how do I shop for a replacement?

This is stock and I am not sure why you would change all that.
Your problem seems to be at the battery, you just need a battery cable, get it with the ends that match your battery.
If you have a side post get it for that.
Don't go into the might as well here, you will never end and you will not know what works and what doesn't.
One thing at a time.
 
yes these wires are the fuse-able links, this is probably the m1009 wiring slightly different from a civilian gas k5. if the fuse links are connected to the battery cable leave them be for now.
only replace the + battery cable, and the - one too if uses the same repair end and adapter.

Make sure to remove the - cable first b4 doing any electrical work.
 
All that wiring looks fine. Actually looks like a factory harness, no butchery.

Concentrate on the battery cables.
 
@kennyw thanks very much. So I tell the auto parts people I need a positive cable for a three wire alternator? I didn’t see any online when I searched the big name chain places.
 
You want side post cable with a pig tail, 2nd smaller wire to connect the fuse links. That are currently connected to the replacement battery terminal.
 
You need one each, battery to ground and battery to switch. These listings are from rockauto but the standard motor products are readily available at most stores.

The pig tail with the yellow crimp connector hooks to the two extra wires running off your positive clamp. This routing of the extra wires is non-conventional, usually they hook to the starter post and are a pain to service. You will be fine leaving them set up like this.

I would also say to solder the wires rather than use a crimp connector if you have the means but the crimp connectors will do the job if needed.
 
My guess from the part numbers is the ground cable is 30" long and the positive cable is 65" long.
 
New battery terminal solved it! Gassed up the truck now...

Came home, went to start it to put in 4WD, and it won’t start! Think I flooded the engine. Grr. Last time I did this it had to sit overnight. But I really need to get it in 4 WD and put the chains on. How long do I have to wait? Snow is coming and I have to probably plow tonight.
 
Hold the gas pedal to the floor if you think its flooded and crank it, don't pump it keep on the floor till it starts and cleans up then let up, don't over rev it
 
K thanks but is that ok to do now or wait til it sits? Sounded like it was going to start twice but it didn’t. Do I keep the pedal to the floor?
 
can do right after you think its flooded, the longer you wait the easy it will start. yes keep it on the floor. If you can keep it floored during cranking pauses. that way you don't add fuel with accelerator pump
 
K you’re the best thanks! I’ll wait a bit til later. I can chain up one tire at least where it sits now. Will I screw up the spark plugs from minor flooding? I haven’t had to change them after flooding in the past. I do have a new set but lack the time to do them all. I can do the easy to get to plugs quickly if that would help. I remember having to climb into the engine bay for some of them!
 
Trying this now.

I forgot to explain, this vehicle has a manual throttle knob. What I typically do is get in, press the gas pedal twice, pull the knob out (sets throttle), then turn the key.

First attempt to do that and it sounded like it was going to start but didn’t.

Second time I didn’t use the throttle knob and it started but sounded weak. Pulled the knob out before it died and it worked.

Am I risking doing anything wrong?
 
throttle knob? is it red with a push button in the center, that allows you push cable in quickly? also if you turn does allow you fine tune rpms.
