Need some 9/16x18 shank style lug nuts to fit my aluminum dish wheels

The shank diameter has to be .800 and open end would be nice. just a plain jane (if its possible) lugnut, I don't need it to be chrome.
The outer hole is 1.24, so a nut size of 7/8" or 13/16" should work.
And it needs to be at least 2.5" OAL, or open end.

to fit these:

why the hell did you use that wire wheel to clean those rims ? :doah:

eagle one etching mag cleaner and brass bristle wire brush brother. :thumb: pic 1 = sitting in storage for over 20 years. pic 2 1 light cleaning with no scrubbing yet.

and these nuts ? pic 5

dorman products lug nuts.

your rims show western wheel molded in the back side ?

i will have to dig up a part # for ya. i got it someplace here close.

and lookin close your lug holes are deep. i bet there the nockoff version of the western wheel stuff. i had a set of the turbine rims that were nockoffs before. just werent the same quality.

why the hell did you use that wire wheel to clean those rims ? :doah:Oh Brett quit bustin my balls...:DIt was handy at the time, and I didn't have the eagle one stuff on the shelf...I used a fine bristle wire wheel...I think they could use some more work, but they might not get it:rolleyes:. I might just bury em in the sand and nail the throttle....sand polishing, yeah that's the ticket:waytogo:

dorman products lug nuts. Are those 711-503? I couldn't find a spec sheet on the dimensions for them, you have any specs?

your rims show western wheel molded in the back side ? Nope I think 2 are Ansen, and the others are???

my 2 sets do ..... :D pics 3-4

Thanks Brett!

I've checked lots of lugnuts out, but most are a .740 shank diameter, and the hole in my wheels are .810, so I need the .800 shank diameter nuts.

Thanks again for the links Brett :waytogo:, I don't see a diagram on the dimensions for them, so I'll see if a parts store local can order a few for me to test fit.....

Iceman, I'll let you know if I can use what you got, if its what I need.
Thanks for the offer.

Now the other two wheels have a flat mounting surface.

Like these:

It looks like they were mounted with a washer and perhaps a shank lugnut, but the shank diameter would have to be so thin to get between the stud and the rim hole, I dont know if such a part exists, or how well it would hold up. Do these rims require just a 60* tapered seat, standard 9/16-18 lugnut?
The mounting surface for the lugnuts are flat, perhaps a bevel could be made to the hole to allow a standard lugnut?

all those rims use shank nut with washer.

the other pic you posted of other rims looks like western wheel style.

even the cheep set i had that were not western wheel used same nuts.

thank you most honorable one....I need to measure one of the last wheels shown to get the hole dimensions on it.

Thinking about the tapered seat....I don't think that would work anyway due to the gap around the lugbolt, and the aluminum might be too soft to have the torque stay put.

Jeg's has them, Have to look kind of hard to find them in 9/16. Here's a part # to search with

Detroit Wheels #306-5088-4

try gettin the tappered seat nut to even bite on the short threads.

and thay are NOT setup for that kind of tapered seat lugnut.

good old shank nuts with a washer = good to go.

last set i got was off ebay. guy goin out of buss sold me 2 full sets 64 nuts/washers total and tossed in 8 extra he had all shipped for less than i could have gotten 1 set for. :D

have you noticed a difference in the diameter of the shanks?
.740 vs .800?

get a tiny bit of slop till you get all 8 in there. then its just fine. at least in my western wheel rims.

oh ya and i got some corrosion from 30 + years of crap buildup.

found easy way to clean the holes tho. 5/8 copper pipe wire brush that plumbers use . cut off handle stick in drill and run in/out the holes. :eek1:

also when installing little light oil on shank and threads.

when starting lugs ONLY try 1 lug few turns by hand. then do next 180* off the first. then run both in 90% of the way. start the rest and finish all 8 per wheel to spec.

if you try to start all in ourder around rim its a pita to get them.

oh ya. and watch the length of the lug. you dont want it flush or out the back of the rim. you want it inside the rim just a little to let the rim clamp tight to the wheel hub.

great tips Brett, I picked up a 611-256 today and tried it in both rims. Well it fits em both, but I put the longer studs in, so I would need to cut the end of the stud or the lugnut off, to get them to seat against the rim....
I havent' checked both on the backside to see if/how much they protrude through the rim center.
But they fit good, and I'll be using them.
I was thinking I needed the .800 shank diameter ones $$$ for them.
I'll search fleabay for some.

I have some of these wheels in 6 lug form and they have the big hole for shank style lug nuts and a taper for tapered lug nuts.
I always use the tapered lug nuts.
I had some wheels on my K5 that required shank style, I hated those wheels, the nuts would get wedged when I was trying to remove them to repair tires, and it's so hard to get them all started.
I prefer tapered nuts.:dunno:

just got to find the right guy who has been playin with those style rims since 2000ish . :doah: dam its been that long now.

my turbines wow you should have seen them when i got them. you couldnt tell thay were aluminum and even nice lookin. took me 1/2 day scrubbin oil/tar/axle grease/brakedust/everything else that was baked on for the past 20-30 years off them.

then i found some real nice rims under all that. then 30 min each rim mask/tape to make them the painted version that i liked better than non painted.

just used spray can rustoleum gloss black and 3 coats of it. no clear or anything. hit them every now and then with the eagle one cleaner and rinse off look like new .

:woot:

there were some rims back in the day that required a special 1/2 shank lugnut that was also tapered seat like reg nuts.

what a pita those can be to find if you need them sometimes.
