Looking for guidance on how to wire my wiper motor to a 3 position switch. I would like to retain the OFF/LOW/HIGH that the factory switch provides.

This is for a '76 with the round style wiper motor.

Will I need a relay?

As I recall, on my '74 there are two wires to the motor for the two speeds, which are negative switched (i.e. the hot side of the motor is always hot and the ground side gets switched on and off.)

You could, then, use a SPDT center-off switch, with one side being low speed, the center being off, and the other side being high speed.

To replicate the factory off-low-high you'd need a custom switch like, well, the factory one.

Any reason you don't want to use the factory one?

And yeah, you'd prolly wanna use a relay, unless you get a big honkin 20A switch which would be kinda big in the dash. Again, why not use factory? Custom dash?

Oh, you may ask about wiring colors ... I have some aftermarket schematics on my Brochures site, linked below. Specifically

http://brochures.slosh.com/wiring/70%20-%2076%20Chassis.pdf

IIRC, light blue (maybe with a black stripe) is grounded for low speed, so I think the yellow (maybe with black stripe) is the high speed... but it's been a while. If this doesn't jive with your truck, either get you a real Chevy wiring diagram or post up and remind me and I'll go dig up the one for my '74.

I should have worded things better. I want to keep OFF/LOW/HIGH, to me it doesn't matter which order they're in on the switch. Not too worried about my washer pump right now cause I know it's dead.

My problems lie within the switch or the wiring to the switch. I'd rather go ahead and hook up a toggle and do my own wiring so I know what's what + I have a lot of other stuff hooked up to toggles and push buttons.

My wiper motor has 3 prongs for spade connectors. So there's only one hot wire? The other two are grounds?

For the relay, 20 amp? 3, 4 or 5 prong?

Correct the hot wire should also have a jumper powering the sprayer. I did not use a relay that switch I listed above it is rated to. 20 amps

I just re read your post, the hot wire goes directly to the motor the switch has three spade terminals. One is the ground then the other three are ground outputs for either high low or sprayer

Sorry I had a typo there it is 4 one is the input ground and the three outputs like I said above

Gotcha, must have read over that.

Would some thing like this be the same? Would it work the same?http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-85912?seid=srese1&gclid=COLO28jBxsACFStk7AodUXAAZQ

No it has to be a on off on or a on on off switch, the switch you have listed would only control either high speed or low speed, if you were to use two of those it would work but the switch I listed above is the route you probably want to take

Ok. I wouldn't have a problem using the switch you listed, but I don't know how the hell I'd mount it. With the one like I linked I can just drill a hole and pop it through and tighten the nut down.

What do I need for these options?

Circuit Activation: Constant or Momentary

Pole: Single or Double

Throw: Single or Double

Just curious does the toggle have to have 4 prongs/ 3 prongs and a ground?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to find an alternative to the rocker you linked, but can yield the same results.

SPDT = Single Pole Double Pole?

It doesn't matter to me if they're illuminated or not.

Links are appreciated!

I believe so you might want to check the wiper fuse and see what it's rated at
