help with 454 cam choice. I think I got one!

I can't really help you there, but say I've got a comp cam Magnum 292H in the 454 in my z-28. it hauls ass. but I've got big rectangle port heads. You might do better with a Magnum 280H. check out the specs there. I use additive in my oil. I actually use GM break in additive. all the time.

How is the low speed drive ability? That's the Main concern. I really want a roller, but it's hard to pony up the $1000 to do it

I have had one mech cam go flat ever and it was a used cam and that is out of a stack of oval track cams. I have had 3 or 4 hydr cams go flat but not after switching to Brad Penn. I LOVE mech and think anything fast should have one and that hyd are for buicks and trucks, of course you have a truck. I am pretty fanatical on adjusting my mechs in the dirt car it is every other race, and in my camaro it is before every time it goes to the track and half way through drag week last year (about 700 miles). I have yet to adjust my new camaro solid roller cam but it is laying in a box at the machinest.

That 268 Lunati Voodoo cam is exactly what you want. I'm a big fan of the Voodoo line of cams. I had the 262 in my 355 and it performed well but I wanted more. I swapped it out for another Voodoo but upgraded to the hydro roller with a 270/278 duration and haven't looked back.
