So I installed a new tom woods driveshaft in my blazer under warranty since I broke the first one... now it is making this noise. I took it back out checked for any binding and ground off any corners that remotely could have touched. Still doing the same thing. It didn’t make this noise with the old shaft which was supposed to be exactly like this one.

Also it doesn’t do this in reverse and if i use only front wheel drive with the twin stick it is way quieter. Driveshaft angles are as follows. Pinion points 17 degrees up towards tcase, pinion points 3 degrees down towards diff, driveshaft angle is 20 degrees. Unless I messed up with this dang bubble level app on my phone since I can’t find my angle finger protractor thing lol

Anyone have an idea what it is?

thats weird as hell man ? ? ? you got me there .

and who welds a weight to a CAST part ? ? ?

have you tried it with no shaft hooked up to verify its the shaft or t-case ?

Yes I have and no noise. But it seems to be load dependent. High load makes it louder coasting it barely will do anything

Maybe the original break hurt the t-case tailshaft or bearing? Maybe check the shaft runout?

Watch your video very closely. The noise is associated with what looks like joint binding. You can see the cv joint skip a bit when the noise happens. Its hard as you moved all over with the camera. I would pull the shaft and check for any binding feeling in that CV. Also check for CV play.

Also check the Tcase and spin the axle input as well. Something is loading and unloading with what looks to be 1 load per shaft rotation.

It's actually half a revolution.
I wonder if it's something in the low gear.

take shaft out and check inside the carion joint bet it might be that little bugger clip in there

No idea on the noise, but wondering about the one bolt not protruding through the flange. Is there sufficient thread contact?

Is the shaft flange seated properly on the transfer case flange. It might explain the one short threaded bolt.

Nothing to worry about with the bolt. The threads messed up on 1 of the bolts when I removed the driveshaft. I used an extra flywheel bolt. Yes it has plenty of engagement until i buy another bolt.

now that you mentioned the half rotation it does look like it’s more likely in the joint.

but i do wonder if j damaged something else when the shaft broke...
