I've been lurking for a while, love the look of some of these truck and has given me alot of ideas for my own. Now onto my own it is 1979 K10 with a 350 np205 4 speed manual holley intake and 600cfm carb dual 20 gallon tanks. 10 bolt front 12 bolt rear
I have owned this truck for about 3-4 years and so far i have had the carb and distributor(hei) replaced at a local shop. I have replaced all shocks head light harness upgrade from lmc, radiator, thermostat, and hoses. and all belts, and plugs wires and all fluids with in the past year) This summer i was having issues with the truck dying and not wanting to restart we thought it was a fuel issue as the fuel filter was not getting a lot of fuel in it. So we replaced the sending units fuel pump and all rubber hoses and blew out the hard lines and tank selector valve. The truck was running better then it ever has started on the first crank every time ran smooth and quit(for this truck). I couldn't have been happier. I even got to take it offroading a little got it stuck had it pulled out drove it home no problems. Then the next day I hopped into the truck after work to head across town I got down the street and the truck started acting up again and died on me. I got it pulled over open the hood looked around and didn't see any thing so i got it got it started and started to head back to the house when it threw the belts witch lead to the engine over heating and the battery draining. I got towed home. I put the battery on a charger for a couple of days. When i went to start it I pumped the pedal once then turned the key and it started right up. It was running a little rough but i decided to let it idle and warm up while i was taking the trash to the curb. It died in about 4-5 minutes it didn't sputter and died it just died. I tried to start it again and I got it started but it wasn't running good at all it felt like when I pressed the gas pedal it would try and stall the when the pedal was let out it would idle up then it died again and I couldn't get it started. I put it back on the battery charger. Today I went out check to see if distributor was loose it was not I pulled the #1 plug it was clean and in good shape. pulled distributor cap it was in good shape. The truck did start 3 different time but I could never get it to stay running longer then 3-5 minutes and like the last time the first time I started it it fired right up the after that it would be harder to start.
Sorry for the long post but any help or even a direction to look would be helpful
thanks for your time
