But what would you use for gears? Aren't front and rear gears cut differently?

No, they are cut the same. The only difference is the High Pinions because the pinion contacts above the axle centerline. My brother ordered two sets of the same gears to re-do his Blazer's 10 bolts.

I cut up a bent 14bff. The tube walls have a taper and are thinner wall out near the spindle.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wondered if the thickness changed.

[/ QUOTE ] I cut it out farther than the center section and I remember it being thinner than that.

They're still not what I'd call thin. I used a chunk of the housing tube to build a swing-away tire carrier. Had to machine the ID to accept the FREE Fiat 8V pinion bearings (Timken Bearings). What ever those tubes are made of is some good stuff. I must have wiped the edge off of a cemented carbide lathe tool 1/2 dozen times. Never could find a speed/feed/depth-of-cut combo that it liked.

yea i cut up my front d60, too cuz it was taking up to much room.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know what you mean, but cutting just takes too much time. Me and a couple of buddies dumped my D60 front in the trash can ... you never heard so much swearing as the poor garbage man lugged that sucker to his truck.

yeah, why are D60's so heavy? I have one in my boat welded to a long chain, but thats because I use its old anchor as a pull-pal for my truck. The other few I had Ieither just buried in the woods, or turned into very powerful potato cannons.

You got it all wrong, with a little playing around (adding weight here and there inside the pumpkin) make you a very attractive floor lamp.......

OK if you guys are serious about cutting up a 60 or throwing them away, or what have you. You should be castrated. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

Thank you, that's all.

/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I agree, I'm still looking for a 60. If they hadn't cut them up, or buried them. Maybe someone would've had a little extra (coin) /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif
