Not a lot of people will probably see it or ever have a need to do it. And some have asked about axle tube thickness. It's a full 1/2" where it enters the pig.

I guess burn through shouldn't be a problem if I weld to mine /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have posted up quite a few times that it was 1/2" but i never had a pic to prove it. I have cut up a 14FF housing before. The same day i cut a D44 and two 10 Bolts. Taking up too much room....

Did the 44 and the 10 bolt have the same tube thickness?

yea i cut up my front d60, too cuz it was taking up to much room. Its about 1/2" too.

Nope. The D44 came out of a really old and rusty chevy fullsize from a friends collection of junk and also had 1/2" tubes.
The 10Bolt was the 7.5" ring gear sort out of a 90 or 91 s-10 truck. I don't really remember the tube size on it (3/8" /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif)but i know it was smaller.

I needed the tubes, spindles and hubs for a couple projects. One side will be jused to attach to a post in the corner of the shop I'm building this coming spring and it will get a nice boom attached to it. This way it will swivel and the plas and small welder will reach the whole shop. Course the boom will have two sections. The other side is gona be set up for a display for a couple things. Beadlocks, disc brake conversion, things like that at shows and swap meets. Not sure what I'm gona do with the center section.

I know what you mean, but cutting just takes too much time. Me and a couple of buddies dumped my D60 front in the trash can ... you never heard so much swearing as the poor garbage man lugged that sucker to his truck.

I cut up a bent 14bff. The tube walls have a taper and are thinner wall out near the spindle.

Seal the ends, weld a plate to one of them and a leg and base to the other. Cut half of a stock diff cover off and bolt/seal it into place. use as a water pot with your bench grinder or whatever mounted on top of the steel plate /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I wondered if the thickness changed.

[/ QUOTE ] I cut it out farther than the center section and I remember it being thinner than that.

[/ QUOTE ] A Barstool would be an interesting idea. Plate with a cushion in place of the cover. Bolt the yoke to a stand and bam you have a 14 bolt bar stool /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. eh of course the pinion is offset so it would be a funky stool.
