Well my buddy got a ticket for going 80mph in a 40mph zone
on his 2009 Kawasaki 250 so he had to go to a class that I believe is specific to Wyoming, called Alive at 25. Well, while he was in the classroom for that we got our first major snowstorm. He's driving a 1987 GMC Sierra 3/4 ton 4x4 with a crate 350. He decided to show off in the parking lot when he was leaving and he smashed into a guard rail...
messed up the fender and bumper. I offered to help him fix it (this happened in December) but it just never happened until this spring break. Luckily, his backyard is full of 73-87 GM's and his dad also just so happens to own a shop of his own
needless to say, it was on! I suck at remembering to take pics so your basically getting pics of where we were at the end of each day...sorry.
Day 1: Here is the trashed fender....and bumper
We got to the shop at around 4:30...they close at 5. Needless to say, we didn't get too far.
Day 2: We weren't gonna mess around, got to the shop at around 8:00 AM and got to work.
Fender, core support basically everything removed and ready for the new stuff.
Day 3: Went to his house and decided if we wanted to go with a front clip from 73-80, 80-88 or 89-91...We went with the 89-91
drove the parts 1990 Sub which is surprisingly clean as heck! All of the body panels were completely rust free, I felt bad for even tearing it apart at all. It took all day to get everything we needed removed and such.
Day 4: Got everything clean and installed. Damn kid bent the frame so we had to use leverage to our advantage in order to mount that damn fender! Finally got fed up and went to work on the bronco, started taking off the swing away tire carrier and the rusted ass bolts broke! I had to chill out so I just sat down for a little bit. It looks good though!
Day 5:
Unfortunately I didn't take any pics on the 5th and final day.We snagged the light harness from the sub and spliced it into the sierra. Works great!
Masked off the grill and all of the light trim and painted it gloss black. It looks great! I didn't get any pics of the lights on but I'll be sure to take some tomorrow (Going back to the shop to fix the spare tire carrier
Well, thats it. I hope you guys enjoy the work that two 17 year olds could do, had a ton of fun with this project!
