hey all

You have to buy a $25 membership, but it's well worth it. You'll be glad you did it.

ill second that, if your serious about buying any older chevy truck, its well worth it, u dont get all the crap u get on other forums, cus everyone else paid to be here too, so they give good info, and not just make fun of u.

Check local classifieds and Craigslists. There are deals, steals and overpriced listings. Some people think their work is worth every cent they spent.

What information are you looking for?

Third on that one! I've been a registered user for over 2 years, but finally joined as a member once I found my K5. Everybody has been really helpful. I've leared more about throttle body injection and fuel line fun here in the last two weeks then in a lifetime elsewhere.

I found my rig locally, guy needed some cash and I needed a truck! :)

Craigslist is a good place to start, same for classifieds. This site will give you lots of ideas and show you what to look out for.

thanks for the input. i really havent decided if i want a 79ish blazer or a 79ish stepside truck. all i know is i want 40" tires haha

Welcome, buying a membership will be the greatest thing to happen in your life aside from maybe having a child, some may disagree with that openion. It's WAY better then a wife or a home aswell. As long as you have a place to work on your project it's all good. :D :haha: :haha:

dont feel like you have to buy a local truck either. if you find a truck to far away to go get you can always get it shipped or a road trip! plenty of guys on here have done it that way. ask away and someone will surely have an answer for you

haha, im concidering it. i have a nice size shop to work on it and just about every tool imaginable. i own a shop where i build/restore/customize classic cars and muscle cars. its only until recently that i have the urge to build a truck. i have a 2004 gmc sierra z71 on 33s but ive heard horror stories about that ifs suspension so i am not going any taller. i am looking to build this rig and use it as my daily driver. i might pull the drive train out of my 04 and use it in the build. or i might just put a 550+ hp 454 in it. i really dont know yet haha. my planning stage last months. the same goes when i am tracking down a car

haha trust me i have learned my lessons about buying around here. people down here think their s**t is gold and your gold is s**t

congrats, now check out the classifieds there are some nice trucks in there right now

quick question, how much is a resonable amount to pay for one of these rigs? of course it depends on the condition.

Answered your own question there. Considering the range of ages and conditions, huge range in prices. A built rig in good shape may go for $10,000 all the way down to a beat up POS that many have picked up for free.

Start looking through craigslist, and see what you can find. That is going to be your best bet for a stockish rig at a good price.
