Hi-lift

Only tow straps around here are cheapy ones, unless you want to pay a fortune.

Only one local place for me carrys hilifts and amazon was a better deal.

your stuck?

your stuck in this pic? what do you guys find to anchor when not around anything....

yes I have heard that statement before, "Prepare for the Worst, Pray for the best"

you do have a really good point ya never know what gonna happen.
You never do.

So even if i dont have another truck wheelin with me, If i could just have some one close enough i could reach on the CB that would be fine right.
You really want someone watching you. I have made people get out of my truck before I tried a nasty spot before. Again, it is worst case scenario stuff, but it is best if there is someone else to make the call, if needed.

Its great to know people in this world still care about others, that seems to be a rare thing these days.
Thankfully, not so rare here.

On a side note, I got some friends that are "kinda" in with the offroad crowd, with near stock trucks. When wheelin' season starts up, I am going to see if i can get in with that groupe of people.
The more the merrier.

This is $17 cheaper than Amazon.

Just becareful of shipping one places might be so high as to kill the deal.
Like I just paid $32 for something because the shipping was $8.98 vs. the other places was $28.99 but there shipping was $16.00

Well I always have atleasst one other person in the truck with me, If i feel it would be to dangerous for them to be in the truck i would let them out and have em spot. I jave learned my leason about that, I was in my friends little open top Zuki' no doors, I decied to hop out a the last second and spot him, glad I did ended up floping right on the passenger side.

Just buy the 60" and learn how to use it. Oh and bring a cheepy can of wd40, it helps.

X2 on the WD40, especially in the mud. Nothing worse that working a 60" all the way down with a screw driver.

No, the hi-lift is a pain in the a$$ especially when it gets muddy. What he's referring to is using WD-40 on the jack so it operates smoothly. It tends to get stuck a lot, and it's 10x worse when it's wet and muddy.

Been there, worked it all the way down with a screwdriver before, and it's a PITA.

Yeah I meant WD40 for yours springs and pins. They hate mud.

i thought you was talking about working down a 60' strap scrapping all the mud off, forgot bout the crappy pins and springs on a handi-man

http://www.jackguard.com/home.html This is a great accessory for every high-lift. Look at pics of my burb and you can see mine on the roof rack. It keeps my jack dry and has room for gloves too.

Looks nifty. I know my buddy has his mounted on his Jeep tailgate, and it's so rusty and nasty, it hardly ever works right. Which is why he took a smack to the face from it. He's always asking to use mine, since mine is kept inside my Jimmy, so it still looks brand new ;)

DO you have it just thrown in there,or mounted . IF so how,I havent figured out how to mount it inside... :dunno:

Mine's just laying back there, up against the back seat. I'm still trying to find a convenient, out of the way place to mount it as well.

A bolt up through the wheel well ,a nut to hold it sticking up
then a wing nut/washer to hold the top of the jack.
Then ??? at the bottom by the tail-gate....eye bolts on either side and a tiny bungee to go across the jack? Some kinda Velcro strap...hummm
LOL I just though of that on the spot..:eek1: It might even work.
Now I just need a jack to measure it out.

EDIT: It really needs to be close to the tail-gate though...If
your stuck you don't wanna be crawling around the inside to get it out.

Yeah, I find that crawling around in the tailgate on a lifted truck is hard on the body. Especially when you have to keep doing it to get straps, tools, etc.

You should tie it down somehow. You don't want to take a Hi-Lift to the head in a wreck or roll.

I was thinking this exact thing. When i rolled my first Blazer i had a set of wheels in the back. Yeah that does NOT feel good to the head. Luckily it was just sore as hell and no real damage. I also had an amp go flying out the window about 100 feet. Imagine if that woulda came towards me.

I make sure w/e i'm hauling gets strapped down or tied down GOOD

This is how mine is mounted: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2190712

Hi-Lift mount: The front one is a simple "L" bolted to the bed rail and wheelwell.

The rear was a little more complex. It bolts to the bed rail and floor...

...but has a 90* bend to make it a little stronger.
