Hi-Lift

It seems like the only time I ever use my Hi Lift is to get my brother in laws dump trailer on and off my truck. The stupid tongue jack hangs too low to lower it without lifting the tongue and doesn't have enough travel to get it off the hitch.

Hi-lifts are way too valuable on the trail to leave behind IMO.
For the trails I do, which are not hard core, I haven't got into a spot where I needed one. You might, you take yours on harder stuff than I do.

My truck is already heavy and every inch of storage space is taken. Packing a 48" jack inside is not an option.

I carry a portable grinder with a cut off wheel on it to cut the rusty wing nuts to get my hi-lift jack out.

Hahahaha.

Its a tool that requires familiarity and understanding, like winches. I haven't found a need for the 5ft versions, get really unstable up there

Speaking if high lifts, was using mine to lift and lower trailer trying to get it unburied in 4ft of snow. Was in a tight space trying to lower it down one notch at a time. Hand slipped off handle (gloves on, snow, ice, etc) as i was lowering it. Anyways, handle sprung up. Almost got out of the way in time, almost. Got socked right behind the ear. No blood but saw a few stars. First time in 25 yrs using one that it ever got me.

I used mine once to lift a trailer tongue that fell off the ball and onto the ground, it was slightly easier than hauling a floor jack across the yard.

I've used mine many times over the years. Breaking tire beads, lifting trailer tongues out of the mud, removing fence posts, straightening truck frames, etc. Never once lifted a truck with it.

I've also been seriously hurt with it. But not the normal way. Rather than getting busted in the face by the jack, a large object fell on me and shoved my face into the jack, lol.
