Guys, how do you make a Ford hi-pinion D60 work with passenger side drop transfer case? I'm asking this because I see the spring perch is cast into the pumpkin on the drivers side of the axle... how do I swap that around?
I'm thinking cut the axle tubes off, swap the short and long tubes around or fab up some new ones. I don't think that is the toughest part at all. What the main question is, how do I get around that cast-in spring perch to work on the passenger side of the pumpkin like a Chevy D60?

Has anyone done this before? Is it worth the effort?

I have a rebuilt np241 put in last spring after cracking it at Sycamore, I'm not ready to get another t-case anytime soon. I figured go the D60/14BFF route because I hate my 10bolts.

EDIT: never mind about trying to make ford 60 work with a passenger drop t-case.. Read last post at bottom..

You don't. You need to swap to a driver side drop T-case.

Ok thanks guys.. I guess I better stick with Chevy D60 and keep rocks away from my yoke.

I just had a rebuilt one put in last spring then my rear 10b crapped out on me. So looking back at what I replaced, I could've gone the right way to beef everything up. Instead I went with everyone's advice to just rebuild what was already on there.
So I'm kinda saying to myself, screw it all and beef up. First thing that came to mind was hi-pinion and I knew it really wouldn't work but I thought I'd ask around anyway.
I'm going with Chevy D60 and get 203/205 doubler sometime next year. I'm seriously staying away from stock stuff.

you can run the hp60 if you run a chevy203/ford205 in the doubler....

couldnt you put your tcase guts into a drivers side drop 241 case out of an IFS truck? :dunno:

hell i got one i want gone, no adaptors, no nothen just the case, unknows condition. its yours if you want it.

i am far but..

sounds like he's set on the Chevy 60.

anybody know if the case guts really can be swapped? i've got a pass drop 241, and need a drivers drop...

sorry for the late reply beaterk20. I was working.......... anyways yeah I'm still thinking since muddybuddy brought up the idea that I could run the hp60 with the 203 and ford 205..... so I'm thinking about it.

if both trucks have VSS and not mech speedo i dont see why they wouldnt direct swap... b/c a pass drop 241 sure swaps into a truck like mine

why would you want to swap the guts?, just use a complete driver drop case

cheaper to buy a case from a CK5er than it is to buy a full case. im planning on going through it anyways, so why not?

im a bit lost as to why you would still want to swap internals

I'll trade you a Chevy 60 for your Ford 60. Got a Dodge 60 too. And more 14 bolts than you can shake a stick at.

Don't know much about the internals but i was pricing out jb conversions SYE kit for my 241 and saw that they make a regular and a super short kit but the super short kit is only available for the driver's drop t- case:dunno:

I don't have a ford 60. I only started this thread to question the possibility of making a hp ford 60 work with a passenger side drop t-case.
I wanted to know before I buy either chevy 60 or ford 60.

I guess either won't matter, I can go ford 60 and use chevy 203 with ford 205, or go all chevy 60/203/205....

I'm still on the fence thinking about it....

If the HP60 is from a 78-79, you can do it without much fuss. The 86-97 will be much more work to accomodate because of the increased pumpkin offset.
