Looking for

secure
cheap
quick release

ideas for mounting a high lift jack.

Lay 'em on me...

It depends on what type of truck and what YOUR mounting options are..not everyone can mount them like someone else. Mine wasnt cheap. the mounts cost about $175bux,,someone could fab similar cheaper, but im very happy with my mounts. Its quick release as it uses large WING NUTs, and its very secure, ive never had it come loose or anything.

Anyways,,here is mine mounted on the roll bar.

Mine is behind the back seat simply mounted with a couple L brackets and bolts. Find a place where you can deal with it ring there all the time an bolt it down. I didn't bother with wingnuts cause I'm betting I'll never use it.

Here a pic.

I've been kicking around the idea of incorporating something like THIS or THIS for a quick release. Might be a good excuse to use the plasma :deal:

what ive seen that im thinking about is, in the driver or passenger side quarter panel over the wheel wells. tucked in and out of the way. youd have to weld in some sort of mounting brackets, and then secure with wingnuts and washers.

Bingo! One of my buddies did a clean one for his K5, he made one up for me too! I can take some pics if ya need! :waytogo:

Did that for my hi lift. Got a piece of flat bar and bent it up with a vise and hammer. then bolted it in

I was thinking wing nuts, but I was afraid they'd be a pain to get on and off. Maybe not

Do you guys use any rubber isolators or just bolt the High Lift down solid?

with how much the hi lift weighs, id steer away from the rubber isolators. it would just allow the jack to move, which would undoubtably cause a rattle or buzz or something. Id personally lock it down solid.

I welded two bolts to my cage, then welded some round stock to some nuts to make a large wingnut.

I've seen some Jeeps with HighLifts mounted on the hood before. I'm still exploring mounting options as well but can't do the area around the wheel wells since that's where the tool boxes are going.

the only thing i dont like about exterior mounting is im a bit paranoid about people f-ing with my isht. my truck has been broken into, and stuff stolen, and that was INSIDE the truck. if its on the outside id worry about it being there the next morning.

There are several threads about this, but this one is the newest :) Heard about this idea from another member.

Stainless steel exhaust clamps, SS hardware, shock bushings, welded a bolt through the clamp. Nice spin on nut with plastic wings. I still need to cut the extra threads off the U-bolt, they are interfering with the jack sitting on the lower rubber. I wanted to do this over the available mounts I can find on Ebay, I just like it more and super strong.
