When I went wheeling the other day. Heres my symptoms:

1) Nasty vibe in the floor when engine braking the truck

2) Even worse vibe in the floor if I dont release the clutch very very slowly

3) Odd ticking noise from under the cab

At first I had thought I blew my tranny mount but I'm starting to lean toward the fact that my growling throwout bearing has completely bit the dust.

What do you guys think?

Gotta be a driveline related bushing is my guess..... motor or trans mount??

A good wheeling day with a bunch of flexing will usually find a weak or worn part in a hurry.

Possibility of sand, mud, or water in clutch assembly. I've gotten those symptoms after submerging. Or...throwout bearing, like you mentioned.

Those are both symptoms of a bad engine mount.

Make sure the engine to bellhousing and bellhousing to trans bolts are tight, if they're loose it will cause that same issue.

Well I took the trans out since it needs to be done anyway. It appears the rear output bearing on the trans has begun grenading. Part of the cage broke off it. I took everything down, the throwout doesnt seem like its in such good shape, noisy and a little gritty. Its not like super super shot but I'm sure its a problem at 800-4500RPM's.

The other lovely thing I found is I began kinking my frame where my trans x-member mounts up! I guess thats what I get for the skid all the way out on the tranfer case output being tied into the cross member so far away. Theres no cracking or anything so I'm gonna bend it back with an adjustable and possibly throw a fish plate underneath it.

Today was really frustrating... My donor trans I found out is shot. The input shaft bearing is toast and one of the cages was at the bottom of the trans... its a shame to cause not only did I spen $100 on it but the gears and syncros looked like they were in such good shape. I'm glad I pulled it apart though.

Off to a shop one of the transmissions is going on monday. A friend told me a local shop is $600 parts and labor to rebuild an sm465 and it takes them a day after they get parts in. I'm gonna call around and see if i can get a better price but I'm not rolling the dice on anymore craigslist trans.

Is there anything I can upgrade while there in there?

Also whats the best way to diagnos a bad motor mount?

use a tankers man pry bar and see if you can pry the motor mount around while you watch, or a cherry picker/come-along on 1 side at a time, again while you watch, some times you can spot the worn out mount by watching it while some1 snorts the motor, but all of them you spot the bad mount by physically looking at/ watching it move.
