I’m struggling a bit on the wiring and setup of the terminator and msd ignition and I think I’m over complicating it.

Holley Terminator X
MSD Dual Sync distributor
MSD 6a CDI box
MSD Blaster 3 coil

If I follow these directions it seems pretty easy but I’ve read stuff about having to lock out the distributor. Is that something I need to do? The distributor paper work and the Holley paperwork doesn’t mention anything about that.

I’m not using a cam or crank sensor. Do I just put the motor at TDC and stick the distributor in with the rotor pointing at 1 o’clock and that’s it? Seems to easy which is why I’m questioning it.

Yes tdc compression stroke, rotor pointing at #1 or straight ahead. No vac advance to worry about. I bet you will need to set base timing, with a light. The computer will take over once it is told the base timing.

There's an install procedure for the dual sync. PDF attached.

I’ve read that and I’m still confused and like I said, I’m probably over thinking it.

Rotate engine to 50* BTDC, install distributor, connect wires, crank engine without fuel and verify with timing light that crank timing is matching what computer says and if not adjust distributor until it does, start engine with fuel and verify with timing light again that commanded matches actual, tighten distributor bolt and call it done.

But is that correct for someone not using a crank and cam sensor? Those directions don’t mention that setup.

The dual sync has a crank and cam sensor. That's what the lights are for. That's how the efi is controlling the timing. If you don't set that the ecu won't know what timing is.

Ohhhhhhhhh!! I thought those were for actual crank and cam sensors on the engine for when you are doing coil on plug ignition.

i read and " understood " the straight forward instructions in my holley manual.. until 1 minute later when i didnt anymore haha. Glad youre on the path to getting it sorted.
