Has anyone had any success or headaches with the truck avenger carbs. Is it worth my $420 bucks or should i just get a regular holley carb or stick with my quadrajet. When i take the current carb on the trails it tends to idle down, then up, then down. Its a mess. The carb will be going on a sbc with no more than 350 hp. If should get the truck avenger, should I get the 670cfm version of the carb. Will it work well with a stock intake or should I get an aftermarket intake, and if so any recomendations with the main focus on driveability.

im had a holley street avenger carb on my 86......POS!!!! I never ran right, even with a rebuild. Just my .02

I love my truck avenger. I have not had it stall on me since it was tuned properly. This weekend out on Miller trail go up some very steep hills and big rocks it did not flinch. If it wasn't for my Fuel pump I would have climbed anything with it.

Stick with the Q-jet, Truck Avengers do not perform better than Q-jets IME.

i've been out with TA guys that were stalling where my q-jet wasn't even sputtering. the TA is good, but the q-jet is freakishly good.

call I5 carburetors in California..lots of wonderful reviews, even from some people here.

I did like my avenger while I was at an extreme angle..however it was a pain in anything high speed and would slosh the fuel real bad. I have dealt with the truck avengers off and on for about almost 6 years..I am done with them.

I just took it off for the last time and tossed on a carb from I 5..

297 shipped...buggy runs amazing and I have not even started to tune it

I've got the 670 TA on mine and really like it. My motor is a 400sbc with close to 400hp. Installed and ran great right out of the box. I don't know a lot about carbs in general but I'd guess if I sat down and read the TA manual I could have it tune to be absolutely perfect but I sorta lazy and haven't taken the time to tune to it's fullest potential. I seems to run great just out of the box.

just got my holley truck avenger purring... finally.... got it going good..

also there is no way you need to pay that much for one... look on ebay....

I paid $420 from pepboys years ago when they came out..

just make sure you dont have a 90670-1
If you end up getting one, holley will swap it out (receipt needed) for a -2
which fixed some issues..

when I called holley told them I had a stumble..the guy said I need .35 discharge nozzles and a new accelerator pump cam. the kit was $20.. and I used a few different ones.... finally sitting on the pink one and stumble is gone!!!! :wink1:

truck never had problems other than off idle stumble.. but when you are WOT WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :haha:

my vote is for the holley truck avenger...

I have always ran a q-jet and never had problems.. but like my holley better

Yes. I got mine on Ebay several years ago from a company, IIRC, called SMM Performance or something lijke that in the mid-west or east coast and paid about $345.00. Was the best deal I could find at the time and brand new and in the box with all the papers and manuals.
