Hood Latch Safety Release Spring

Anyone have some pictures of a installed hood latch safety release spring?

I just bought a new hood latch and it came with what is itemized as a hood latch safety release spring. About an inch or so long

My beat up one I'm replacing didn't have one. And I can't seem to find a picture with one installed.

Wherever it goes I don't know where or how to attach it, can't find a picture of one installed for a point of reference.
