anybody know of a way to lock the hood? do they make a hood release that will fit a 72?

Burt4x4 uses a chain and padlock on his. I just keep mine so ugly that no one will ever want to steal anything from it.

My '71 came w/a mechanism that must be pushed in w/a long dowel or screwdriver (between the grill) before you can release the hood catch. It's a 2"x2" plate located right behind the front center hood catch. It's not really a lock, but if you don't know about it, it'll keep you out. I think it works great, and probably a pretty cheap aftermarket part. Good Luck.

is there anyway of maybe a some pics and description of how to hook it up? I'm interested in this.

I bought a 6' master lock cable with keyed lock built into it from Home Depot. and feed it through the holes on each side of the hood pin. When it's locked you can't get to the cable to cut it with with out busting the grille out. works out great and didn't have to drill any holes. I think it was around $10.
