Hood Picker - One Man Hood R&R

so i'm needing to r&r my hood on my 82 k5 blazer to install a set of the eddie motorsports billet hood hinges.

I have a hard time getting helpers for 2 man jobs so i'm looking into using a hood picker, that mounts on any engine hoist/cherry picker.

The only one i can find is the Merrick Hood Picker:

Has anyone used one of these on a big steel hood like a c/k 5 square body?

How'd it work out?

Anyone use any other hood pickers besides the Merrick? How'd it work out?

thanks in advance.

I’m out in Henderson. I don’t have any free time during the week, but the weekend I may be able to give you a hand.
Looks like I might be off all next week for the #axethevax walkout...

You don't need any fancy equipment to swap hinges if you do one side at a time. Use a pole or a piece of wood to hold the hood open and shove a towel (folded) under the corner of the hood so it stays off the cowling on the side you're removing the hinge. I've done this several times and it's easier than removing the hood with two men.
