How can it be a functional cowl hood if it has the factory bracing underneath? A TRUE cowl INDUCTION hood, has the air cleaner routed into the raised portion of the hood so all of the air the engine intakes is taken through the hood "scoop". It takes advantage of the air pressure built up at the base of the windshield(air sort of rolls and builds pressure there). I'd say 95% of hoods called "Cowl Induction" hoods are just hoods with the scoop and let hot air out of the underhood area. Really don't do a thing for intaking cold air, mostly looks. That ram air hood that looks like a WS6 style Trans Am hood would look HORRIBLE on a K5. K5s are boxy, squared off creatures. Throw some bubbly lines and features on it, its gonna look like crap. IMO anyway. "Cowl" hoods look cool. I'd save your money and do other things to the truck. Bondoing on a scoop is gonna end badly, bolting one on, well I've seen it before, and it never looks good IMO. You see the spot where its just sitting on the hood.

DO NOT DO IT!!! close the hood a few times, and your scoop will start to crack off. the hood flexes too much for that. if it were a glass hood, i'd say go for it. i had an ABS plastic L-88 scoop on the hood of my TA. rather than try to smooth it into the hood, i just riveted it on, sealed the underside with silicone (the hood was cut for an air cleaner, my intake was too tall, even the shortest air cleaner wouldnt clear). i then painted the rivets to match. didnt look too bad.

i grabbed it for later use on something but my younger brother saw it in the truck and took it back.NUTS
