Anyone use hooker headers on their blazers. They would go on a 90 blazer with a 454. Shorties or long tube? Any problems with interference with frame or other parts?
Thanks,
Joe

I'm running long tube Super Comp hooker headers in my 75 burb with a SB350 and have no clearance issues whatsoever

Hooker Comps on a 406sbc in an '85, fit fine and no leaks here.

No matter what headers you get, use the COPPER gaskets at both ends. They are a bit spendy, but well worth it.

<start high jack>
Are those header gaskets or manifold gaskets or is there both?
sorry for sounding like an ass just want to do it right when the time comes
<end high jack>

I'm using copper header gaskets at the flange end and the collector end.....for HEADERS

have hookers on my 90 with a 350tbi, no clearance issues, ive burned through one gasket but after replacing that and then torqueing down the bolts after like 3 or 4 times driving no problems

I hada set of hookers on my 85 F250 on a 6 inch kit and 36 in swampers. They started to leak a little on my worked 302, after about 1000 miles. I spent a little more and got the expensive gaskets, and retorqued them after about 500 miles and they never leaked again, sounded great and held up like a champ.

Long tubs hang too low; they are also too close to shackles. I think that for anyone who is going to be off road, short tubs are the way to go. I mean really – is the performance between the two worth the clearance issues. Don’t post up stating that your long tubs provide no clearance problems if you are not going to attach a pic that is taken level from the collector…

I agree with a quality gasket. I have ran headers on lots of rigs and as long as you use a quality gasket and correctly torque (and check torque after a few hundred miles) you are not going to have a problem with leaks…

i ran the Headmans with my sbc and they sucked. so i poped for the spendy hookers with the coating when i swapped to a bbc. the fit is great but the coating rusted bad over the winter and i just put them on in october:doah:

i'm not going to say that they don't hang down a little (at least on the driver side), but they don't hang down like the headman's did. besides wouldn't you be hitting on the spring and shakle first?

ok i broke down and took som pic of the collectors for ya, mccomas.

Jason, thanks for the pics. By any chance, do you have the part # for those headers. There is some confusion here at the local speed shop. They gave me #2454hkr which I think are for 2wd.

Everyone else has posted using hookers, but with a 350. I'm runnung a 454.

I know I had a minor clearence problem on a 350 with Gibson shorties (at frame on pass, side.)
Thanks,
Joe

i went out and looked at the box, the part # is 2463-1hkr.
under that say some thing like 67-88 chevy 4x4 truck with big block.
hope this works for ya-jayson

I always buy Hookers....I have bought one set of Headmans, and didn'teven use them I hated them so bad....Anyone want them cheap????

I use FlowTech headers on my 350sb.... decent clearance from the shackles, nothing to brag about, but they work great, copper gaskets on top/bottom you can't go wrong! I used the paper ones they're crap, toss em in the trash.... I helped George_pimpdaddy install his headmans and was VERY dissappointed with the botom clearance, we're going to have to try and make some adjustments but they will work.... go with shorties, I will next time for sure!
